X-Hab 3D and Habitat for Humanity Collaboration

X-Hab 3D, Inc. and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County (HFHGCG) are excited to announce their plans to collaborate on the construction of an affordable, sustainable, energy-efficient 3D concrete-printed single family house in the Greater Centre County region of Pennsylvania. The Craftsman-style house will be approximately 1,200 square feet in size and designed to meet or exceed all building code requirements, achieve a high level of energy efficiency, and significantly reduce total cost of ownership over the long term.

X-Hab 3D, a State College, PA-based company, has developed a mobile 3D concrete printing system that can print the walls and other components of single-family houses on site, with a significant reduction in build time, labor, and material costs compared to conventional (stick-built) construction.  Houses built with 3D concrete printing are also more resistant to storms, fires, earthquakes, and infestation, and are expected to last much longer than conventional construction.

HFHGCG will serve as the general contractor and construction manager, responsible for land selection and acquisition, site preparation, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, interior finishes, including fixtures and appliances, landscaping, and utilities connections.  X-Hab 3D will be responsible for the 3D concrete printed components and will work with HFHGCG and its contractors to provide the necessary training and guidance for integrating the 3D concrete printing process with traditional construction practices.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with X-Hab 3D to build a sustainable and affordable home for a local family. This partnership will enable us to incorporate innovative technology into our building process, reduce costs, and provide a quality home for a deserving family in need,” said Stephanie Fost, Executive Director of HFHGCC.

Bruce Kraselsky, CEO of X-Hab 3D, said the company is “excited to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County to bring our innovative 3D printing technology to affordable housing. We expect this project to set the stage for future collaborations with Habitat for Humanity in Greater Centre County, and in doing so, to help make a real difference in people’s lives.”
